Two businesses can offer the same service on the same street, yet one gets far more calls. Usually the difference is the listing. Here are ten things that help customers notice you and choose you.

1. Choose the most specific category

Choose a sub-category, and the specialised category where one fits. "Modular Kitchen Makers" brings better enquiries than a general home-improvement category.

2. Pick the right locality

Customers search close to home. Choose the locality where your shop or office actually is, not the most famous area nearby. Your listing appears on that locality's page and on your city page.

3. Use your real name

Use the name on your signboard and your registration documents. Add your Hindi or local-language name too if customers know you by it.

4. Write for customers, not for search engines

Describe what you do, for whom and where, in plain words. Mention the brands you stock, the areas you deliver to, or the qualifications you hold.

5. Add a WhatsApp number

Many customers in India prefer to send a message first. A WhatsApp button lowers the barrier to that first contact.

6. Keep your hours accurate

Show your weekly off day and change your hours for festivals and public holidays. Nothing loses a customer faster than a closed shutter during "open" hours.

7. Upload a logo and real photos

A clear logo and photos of your shop, team or work make a listing look established. Use your own photos, not stock images.

8. Get verified

Upload a GSTIN, Udyam, Shop & Establishment or other registration document to earn the verified badge. Customers can filter for verified businesses on state pages, and the badge helps you stand out among unverified competitors.

9. Answer enquiries quickly

Quote requests are sent to several businesses at once. The first clear, polite reply often wins the job. Check your dashboard daily.

10. Ask for reviews

After a job well done, ask the customer to leave a review on IndiaYP. Read every review and act on fair criticism; how you handle a complaint says a lot about your business.

Small, steady improvements add up. Revisit your listing every few months and keep it as current as your shopfront.
